2020 Recipient

The 2020 Shasta Piping Society Pipe Scholarship has been awarded to Nick Paul of San Diego, California!

Congratulations to Nick Paul of San Diego, the 2020 Shasta Piping Society Pipe Scholarship award winner. On the strength of Nick's essay and recommendation from his piping instructor, Ross Naismith (L), Nick received a refurbished set of 1960s MacPherson drones and a G1 Platinum chanter to further his career in music.

These drones were restored by Graham Burley and originally owned by the late Dr. J. David Hester. David sent them to me before he passed away last year to have some missing parts replaced and then told me to give them to a worthy student. With his family's blessing, these drones will live on another 50 years or more to continue to make the music David loved so much. Nick will be playing these pipes at the NZ championships with the Clan Gordon Pipe Band. Good luck in all your musical endeavors, Nick!
