2017 Recipient

The 2017 Shasta Piping Society Pipe Scholarship has been awarded to Matthew Ricci of Tucson, Arizona.

A young piper in the Tucson & District Pipe Band, Matthew's been playing pipes lent to him by the Pipe Major. Matthew wrote a wonderful essay and his instructor, Ron Bowen, provided a great recommendation.

On the strength of his application and interests, Matthew was awarded a refurbished set of Great Highland Bagpipes made of African Blackwood by Thomas Doucet of Canada. Included in the award were additional accessories provided by the Tucson & District Pipe Band and its Pipe Major. We thank these folks for assisting us in helping Matthew reach his musical potential.

We hope this award helps Matthew achieve his goals and provides many years of enjoyment for him and his family.
